Hello Donors and Supporters (You Know Who You Are)

Well, it looks like the shelter building project appeal for funds initiated by Pat and Monique -- a married couple and teachers working in China -- begun in February of this year, is finally reaching fruition in October of this year (2008).  As I sit and type this, the shelter's roof, floor, and bathroom are complete.  All that's left are the walls, plumbing, and electric wiring.  Monique is due for a visit to the shelter this September/October and she is accompanied by Pat's brother and her lovely two children.  They might be on-site to meet Dave and Mary, the couple of 'angels' who arrived at our doors unannounced -- but sent by Wendy's family (a family of Bhodisattvas if there ever was one).  They received funds from a non-governmental organization in Sri Lanka.  Dave and Mary, who barely missed the Asian tsunami in Thailand of December 2004, transferred the funds from this NGO in Sri Lanka that was also answering appeals for help there.  Due to unforeseen political complications, the funds ended up earmarked for HTF Home School.  Dave and Mary have been in Mae Sot for a couple of months now and construction on the shelter is nearing completion. Mary has many years experience as a kindergarten teacher and understands my dream of being back at the shelter and planning for the opening of our own kindergarten there -- hopefully, in the spring of 2009.  Dave, who is also a past sailor like me, probably understands my 'wandering heart'.  I release it to him -- I'll play    'BASE' here in Thailand and stay at home for a while.  Tash and Kay, from Acorn Overseas, also visited the shelter and have been looking into support for sponsorship of the children at HTF Home School.  Tash and Kay have promised us some student volunteers for October -- gardening month!  Ingo, who visited us last year and who is now in Ireland, having moved from a Camphill community, has furnished me with the inspiration to apply some of Rudolf Steiner's philosophy of 'anthroposophical farming' to our future gardening.  He also worked with his students and sold candles in the U.K. to collect funds for HTF.  To all of you who have helped us -- especially this year -- we offer our heartfelt thanks.  OUR HOME IS YOUR HOME!  PLEASE CONSIDER IT SO AND YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN OUR FAMILY AT ANY TIME. THANK YOU WENDY, for the bathroom sponsorship -- I hope to be enjoying camp showers there, soon.  And, I must thank my spiritual teacher, Prem Rawat, who provided me with his example that has inspired me for the past 27 years.  Without his guidance on a higher plane, I would never have gotten this far!  I only pray he continues to 'bless' my efforts from time to time.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ROOF RAISING AND ALL THAT HAS FOLLOWED ON FROM THAT POINT.  IT IS ESPECIALLY APT THAT WE HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS RAINY SEASON WITHOUT A PROPER HOME THAT IS 'HIGH AND DRY'.  IN MEMORY OF GAOBHAI WHO MAY BE WHEREVER HE IS, WE ALL DEVOTE THIS SHELTER TO HIM AND TO TEZO AND JIGLE'S MOTHER WHO MAY BE WITH GAOBHAI.  IT IS NOT YET OUR TURN TO JOIN THEM BUT I'M READY FOR THAT JOURNEY IF AND WHEN IT COMES.  BRING IT ON LORD!  And last, but not least, thank you -- Ita and Goin -- for reminding me of my 'faith' as it was taught to me first by my father.
